Platform Details
YouTube
YouTube is the most widely supported platform. Fetchr can download any public YouTube video in up to 1080p (or higher if available), including YouTube Shorts and most live stream recordings. Playlists are supported too — just paste the playlist URL and choose your quality. Age-restricted videos require no sign-in on Fetchr's end for most cases. Private and members-only videos cannot be downloaded.
TikTok
TikTok videos are downloaded without the floating TikTok watermark that appears when you use the in-app save feature. Fetchr fetches the original video stream directly. Photo slideshow posts (carousel format) are also supported and saved as a video compilation. Live TikToks cannot be downloaded while live, but the recording is available after the stream ends.
You can download public Instagram Reels, regular video posts, and Stories from public profiles. Private Instagram accounts are not supported — their content is protected by Instagram's API and cannot be accessed without authentication. If you get an error on an Instagram link, double-check that the account is public and the post hasn't been deleted.
Twitter / X
Twitter/X video tweets, GIF animations converted to video, and native video posts are all supported. You can use either twitter.com or x.com links — both work identically. Note that quoted retweets with videos may require the original tweet URL for best results.
Vimeo
Most public Vimeo videos are downloadable. Password-protected or private Vimeo videos cannot be accessed. Vimeo allows content creators to disable downloads; in those cases, Fetchr may not be able to retrieve the video.
Reddit video posts hosted on v.redd.it are supported. These are often split into separate video and audio streams — Fetchr merges them into a single MP4. Links to external video services (like YouTube embeds in Reddit posts) should be downloaded directly from the source platform for best results.
1,000+ More Sites
Fetchr is powered by yt-dlp, which supports over 1,000 websites including Twitch VODs, Dailymotion, Bilibili, Rumble, Odysee, SoundCloud (audio), Bandcamp, ESPN, CNN, BBC, and countless others. If your site isn't listed above, just try pasting the URL — it very likely works. For a full list, visit the yt-dlp supported sites list .
What Can't Be Downloaded
Some content is technically or legally off-limits, regardless of the platform:
- Private videos — any video that requires a login to view, including YouTube unlisted/private videos, private Instagram posts, and locked Facebook content. These require user authentication that Fetchr does not have access to.
- DRM-protected streaming content — Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, HBO Max, and other major streaming services encrypt their video streams with Widevine, FairPlay, or PlayReady DRM. This encryption cannot be bypassed by any web-based tool. Fetchr cannot download this content.
- Private Instagram accounts — posts from private Instagram profiles are inaccessible without an authenticated session. Only public account content can be downloaded.
- YouTube Premium exclusives and members-only content — videos locked behind YouTube Premium or channel memberships require a signed-in Premium account. Fetchr does not use any YouTube account credentials.
- Active live streams — you cannot download a stream while it is live. Once the creator ends the stream and it is saved as a VOD or recording, it becomes available for download like a regular video.
- Paywalled content — Patreon posts, OnlyFans, paid Vimeo showcases, and similar subscription-gated content cannot be accessed without valid credentials.
- Region-locked videos — some YouTube videos are blocked in certain countries. If the video is blocked in the region where Fetchr's server is located, the download will fail.
